Victoria East High School senior Kiley Powell has earned statewide recognition after placing 6th in Lincoln Douglas Debate at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Meet held this month in Austin.
Powell advanced to the state competition following a standout performance at the regional level, where she demonstrated exceptional skill, focus, and a strong command of debate fundamentals. Representing Victoria East on the UIL’s biggest academic stage, she competed against top student debaters from across Texas in one of the most intellectually rigorous events.
In the lead-up to the state meet, Powell dedicated extensive time to preparation—analyzing cases, strengthening arguments, and honing her delivery. Her efforts culminated in an impressive finish among the top competitors in the state.
Kiley’s achievement is a testament to her hard work, determination, and ability to excel in high-pressure academic competition. Victoria ISD congratulates her on this outstanding accomplishment and celebrates the commitment and excellence she has brought to the district’s debate program.
