The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of Michelle Sturm as the new principal of Dudley Elementary.

Sturm has more than two decades of educational experience, most of which has occurred with VISD. After beginning her teaching career at Vickers Elementary in 1998, Sturm worked at the former Guadalupe Elementary among other VISD elementary schools. She has recently served as the Assistant Principal of Schorlemmer Elementary for the last four years. Sturm holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Students from the University of Houston-Victoria and a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University.

“I am honored to have been given the opportunity to join the Dudley family. After more than 20 years in education, I am excited to grow as a leader in VISD,” said Sturm. “I will strive to continue the work of guiding the students, staff and families of Dudley Elementary toward excellence.”

Sturm will replace Steven Carroll following his hiring as the Director of Secondary Professional and Paraprofessional Talent in the Talent Acquisition, Support and Retention department at VISD.

She will be responsible for coordinating administrative oversight while ensuring the success of students and staff at the campus by ensuring high standards of instructional service.

Tammy Garza, Executive Director of Elementary Student Learning & Talent Development, is excited to have Sturm move into this role at Dudley Elementary, stating, “She is passionate about sustaining a collaborative culture with the families and staff at Dudley Elementary. She is a systems thinker with high expectations for teaching and learning, and I am thrilled to have her join the principal team.”
