Victoria ISD’s Office of Strategic Planning and School Improvement will host Summer Academic and Enrichment Camps. The campuses chosen to host summer camps are Chandler, Dudley, O’Connor, and Shields elementary schools.

As part of the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Additional Days School Year (ADSY) initiative, VISD is offering its “Launch into an Amazing Summer” academic and enrichment camps.

Camps will be offered from June 6 through July 13, with breakfast offered at 8 a.m. and instruction from 8:30 to 3 p.m. Students will receive three hours of reading and math instruction and three hours of enrichment instruction with a pathway focus.

“The VISD Academic & Enrichment Summer Camps will be a great place for students to sharpen their academic skills and explore a variety of enrichment experiences,” said Patti Rowland, extended learning program specialist and reading academy cohort leader at VISD.

The summer camps are at no cost to parents and available to all VISD elementary students. Enrollment information will be provided at a later date.

In order to provide the best experience possible for all of its students with this summer program, the district is seeking community input. VISD is asking stakeholders to participate in the Summer Camp ThoughtExchange to share what you would like the VISD elementary summer program to look like, or include, and what type of enrichment activities you feel would best benefit VISD students. The ThoughtExchange will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, and close at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 4.
