Victoria ISD is expanding dual credit opportunities for high school students with the addition of Process Technology (PTECH) and Instrumentation Technology programs, allowing students to earn college credit while developing industry-specific skills and preparing for careers in industrial technology.
These new offerings build on the district's commitment to providing multiple pathways for students to explore career interests, gain technical knowledge and prepare for postsecondary education and workforce opportunities.
During the 2025โ26 school year, Victoria ISD expanded its Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study with the introduction of the Energy Career Cluster, featuring Refining & Chemical Processes and Renewable Energy. The addition of Process Technology and Instrumentation Technology dual credit opportunities further strengthens the district's efforts to connect classroom learning with college and career preparation.
Process Technology
The Process Technology program introduces students to the systems and equipment used in large-scale manufacturing and industrial processing facilities. Students will explore how process technicians use computerized technology to monitor and operate pumps, compressors and production systems while maintaining safe and efficient operations. Coursework focuses on process operations, industrial equipment, safety and environmental compliance, process instrumentation, quality control and troubleshooting complex systems.
Designed for students interested in industrial operations, technology and problem
solving, the program provides a foundation for continued education and careers in process technology, including opportunities in chemical plants, manufacturing and production facilities and utility generation.
Instrumentation Technology
The Instrumentation Technology program introduces students to industrial automation, electronic systems and the technology used to monitor and control equipment in industrial facilities. Students will explore how instrumentation technicians install, maintain, calibrate and repair specialized equipment and control systems to support safe and efficient operations. Coursework focuses on industrial measurements, digital systems, motor controls, instrument calibration, troubleshooting, distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Designed for students interested in electronics, advanced equipment, technology and hands-on problem-solving, the program provides a foundation for continued education and careers in instrumentation technology, including opportunities in as chemical plants, oil and gas pipeline operations and power generations.
The addition of these dual credit opportunities supports Victoria ISD's commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school by providing access to career-focused coursework and opportunities to earn college credit.
The programs also align with the district's Strategic Plan and Strategic Priority 1: Exemplary Student Outcomes, which emphasizes preparing students to graduate with their cohort and achieve their โ&,โ whether that includes college, career or military opportunities.
Students interested in taking advantage of these new dual credit opportunities in Process Technology or Instrumentation Technology should notify their school counselor during the course selection process. Counselors can provide additional information about dual credit enrollment and help students explore how these courses can support their high school academic plans while earning college credit toward their postsecondary education.
