Victoria ISD students are off to a strong start for the 2026-27 school year, with districtwide attendance reaching 94.9% during the first six weeks of school.

The first-six-weeks rate marks the fourth consecutive school year that VISD has increased attendance during the first six weeks, continuing positive momentum across the district.

The improvement is also reflected at the campus level. Every VISD campus recorded a first-six-weeks attendance rate higher than its overall attendance rate for the 2025-26 school year, demonstrating a strong districtwide start and the continued commitment of students, families and staff to making every school day count.

VISD has continued to see improvement in student attendance in recent years. The districtโ€™s overall attendance rate increased from 92.9% in 2024-25 to 93.7% in 2025-26. With attendance at 94.9% through the first six weeks of 2026-27, the district is beginning the school year with continued positive momentum.

Regular attendance is an important part of student success. Each day in the classroom provides students with access to direct instruction, classroom discussions, hands-on learning and connections with teachers and classmates. Consistent attendance also helps students remain engaged in their learning and build the academic foundation needed for continued growth.

The districtโ€™s Showing Up for Excellence attendance initiative reinforces that message by encouraging students and families to make regular, on-time attendance a priority. As part of the initiative, the districtโ€™s attendance contract creates a shared commitment among students, families and schools to work together to support consistent attendance throughout the school year.

The first-six-weeks results provide an encouraging start, but maintaining that momentum will require continued partnership throughout the 2026-27 school year. VISD will continue monitoring attendance, supporting campuses and working with families to address barriers that may prevent students from attending school consistently.

Through Showing Up for Excellence, VISD remains focused on a simple but important message: every day in school is another opportunity for students to learn, grow and achieve excellence.
