A Message to the Dudley Elementary community:

Hello! My name is Mr. Steve Carroll, and it is my distinct honor and privilege to be named Principal of Dudley Elementary School to start the 2018-2019 school year.

I have been an educator since 1993, first as a teacher, then in administration. My first seven years was spent teaching on both the elementary and middle school level. I then served as Assistant Principal at O'Connor Elementary and as Principal at Mission Valley Elementary. I recently served nine years as Principal of Vickers Elementary, a campus which was named a Texas Honor Roll School and received all six Distinction Designations from the Texas Education Agency, a feat matched by only 5% of Texas public schools. I am committed to bringing that same level of excellence to Dudley Elementary as I begin my first year here.

It is important to me that you know that my transfer to Dudley was done as a result of my own initiation and request to our Superintendent. I love my Vickers family and I will always treasure the time I spent there. I will miss them greatly! However, I have a desire to challenge myself personally and professionally and to make a difference for all of the students in our school district. I am very excited to be joining the Dudley community and feel very blessed to have the opportunity. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and working together to achieve greatness for all the students at Dudley.

A little bit more about myself as we begin the transition. I am a husband, father, and son. My wife of 23 years is Christie Carroll. We have two children, Emily (20 years old) and Olivia (19 years old). Christie teaches 1st grade at O'Connor Elementary. Emily is in RN school at Victoria College, and Olivia is a Theater major at Southwestern University in Georgetown. I am beginning my 25th year in education, all with Victoria ISD. I don't really have many hobbies, but I love to travel and go to new places. My faith is very important to me. I believe that our purpose in life is to glorify God in all that we do. I fall far short as we all do, but I pray for God's grace and the strength to discern and follow His will and not mine.

As we begin this new transition, I pledge to you that I will work very hard to make Dudley a school that you can be immensely proud of. This will be achieved by maintaining student focus, building leaders at all levels, adhering to core values, and systems thinking. We will be unwavering on making decisions that are best for ALL of our Dudley students.

I am excited and honored to be a part of the Dudley community. I look forward to meeting and working with you to best meet the needs of all of our students.
